Venita Werthen

Venita J. "Nana" Werthen, age 78, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Mt. Vernon. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Bro Jim Moore officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Damascus Cemetery with Chris Williams, Jim Parker, Eric Faulkner, Eli Faulkner, Tyler Werthen and Brad Werthen serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christoper Anderson and Layne Morris.
Venita was born on March 30, 1939 in Dekalb TX to Horace Aubry and Essie Faye Lancaster Martin, she married Joe Werthen Sr. in August of 1973 in Angleton TX.
She is survived by her husband, Joe D. Werthen Sr. of Mt.Vernon TX, her sons, Terry Werthen and wife Patti of Daingerfield TX., J.D. Werthen and wife Lisa of Mt. Vernon TX., Joe Werthen and wife Victoria of Mt. Pleasant TX., and daughter Paula Hill and Husband Ron of Santa Fe TX., 13 Grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was Preceded in death by her parents, Horace Aubry and Essie Faye Martin, brother, Rufus Avery Martin, and infant sister Barbara Martin.

Memorials can be made to the Cypress Basin Hospice.
