Thomas Woods

On Friday, October 26, 2019, Thomas “Tom” Norman Woods, a loving husband, father and grandfather was called home to be with our Lord at the age of 76. Tom was born on the 18th of May, 1943 in Oak Park, IL to John T. Haslem and Henrietta Haslem. Tom served in the United States Navy from February 9, 1961 to February 8, 1967 and served during the Vietnam War as a Naval Aircraft Electrician. Tom graduated from electrician trade school and became a Journey Patrolmen- Lineman where he served the Los Angeles County Department of Water and Power for 35 years. On March 18, 1978, he married Janet Diane Woods. They raised three children, two sons Eric and Timothy and one daughter, Katie and many other children that Tom and Janet loved as their own. He has four grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Swede and Shi Ann. Tom is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, his sister, Pat and his niece and nephew, Bridgette and Christopher. Tom and Janet moved to Mount Pleasant Texas in December of 2004, where they lived on their beloved ranch. Tom spent his retirement years with Janet doing what he loved, taking care of their place, their horses, donkeys, dogs and the family. Everyone that met Tom could tell that he was a strong and a kind man, but a special few got to see Tom’s witty sense of humor, his love for a good prank and his unquestionable love for his wife and family. He spent all of his days working hard to take care of his family and will be spending his days in heaven watching over them. His family has asked that donations to the Mt. Pleasant Christian school be made in lieu of flowers and gifts. The donations may be sent to Mt. Pleasant Christian School, Tony McNatt, 300 South Florey Avenue, Mt. Pleasant, Texas 75455, phone 903-577-1550. Memorial Services for Tom will be at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home, 2256 N. Edwards Avenue., Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455 on the Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Tom will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on the 1st of November, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in a private ceremony.
