Sam Nolan Morton Jr.

Funeral service for Sam Nolan Morton Jr., age 75, of Mount Pleasant, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at South Jefferson Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Ogelsby and Bro. Clay Potter officiating. Pallbearers will include Colt Rosewell, Jake Rosewell, Zachary Morton, Rolston Morton, Nick Morton, and Wade Lynch. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to service at the church. Mr. Morton passed away at his residence in Mount Pleasant, Texas on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Sam Nolan Morton Jr. was born on October 30, 1949, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, to Sam Nolan Morton Sr. and Anna Lou (Smith) Morton. He married Laquetta (Hardin) Morton in Daingerfield, Texas, on May 27, 2012. Sam was a member of the South Jefferson Baptist Church. He was a retired mechanic of 23 years at Priefert’s. 

Sam is survived by his wife, Laquetta Morton, his sons; Mark Morton, Quincy Morton, his daughter, Tammie and Kenny Rosewell, his bonus children; Lora Sargent, Teresa Rankin, Manny Simon, Sam Simon, Angel Logan, Abby Simon and Nathan Simon, his sisters; Wanda and A.L. Lynch, and Sandra and Quinton Kelly. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anna Lou and Sam Nolan Morton Sr., his brother, Tommy Rex Morton, his bonus daughter, Cheryl Mauldin and beloved pet, Suzie.
