Ruby Woods-Howell

Ruby "Polly" Woods Howell, age 85, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Pleasant Springs Nursing Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 19, 2013 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Bill Whitaker and Bill Barkley officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
Polly was born on May 15, 1928 in Mount Vernon, Texas, the daughter of Harvey and Daisy McLemore Woods. She attended First Baptist Church and was a member of the Gideon's International and the Mount Pleasant Art Society. She married Dewey Howell in Houston, Texas on June 14, 1963.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey Howell of Mount Pleasant, TX; three daughters, Diane Smith and husband Ken and Kay Price of Lufkin, TX and Tracey and Doug Rath of Golden, CO; a son, Mark Howell of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Darrell Smith, Kim Phillips, Mark Smith, Melanie Hail, Philip Price, Kelly Wuthrich, Nicole Rowan, Leah Howell, Brennen Howell and Jarrett Appel; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Wyoma Heston; nieces, Linda Pepper and Ernestine Ray; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Alvin Pounds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William Woods, Boyd Woods and Jack Woods; two sisters, Almeta Smith and Virginia Sims.
