Mary Roland

Mary Margaret Armbruster Roland, 87 of Thrall Texas, passed away July 15, 2014 in Mt. Pleasant. She was born on July 6, 1927 in Temple to John C. Armbruster and Esther F. Broadus Armbruster.

Mary graduated in 1948 from Texas Women's College in Denton with a BS in Occupational Therapy. She married Arlee Roland on May 28, 1948 in Amarillo. Together they resided in Venezuela, Guam, and Maryland before finally settling down in Texas. Mary raised three children, worked as an Occupational Therapist, and taught elementary school for ten years. Mary was an accomplished artist selling over 500 pen and ink drawings.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents John and Esther Armbruster, sister Cynthia Russell, husband Arlee Roland, and two sons George and Russell Roland. She is survived by one daughter Susan Lebsack and son-in-law Dwight Lebsack. Mary is survived by niece Kathy Russell Woods and nephew Wheeler Russell, four granddaughters, Erin Roland, Krista Roland, Audrey Roland Duncan and Veronica Lebsack Stotts, two grandson's James Herridge and Evan Roland.

There will a visitation Friday, July 17 from 6p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale. Graveside services are on Saturday July 18 at 10:30a.m. at the Lawrence Chapel Cemetery, Thrall. Officiating is Brother Jeremy Shepherd, pastor of the 1st Baptist Church Thorndale.
