Martha Edwards Cates

Martha Edwards Cates passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 in Mount Pleasant. She was born December 10, 1932 to Albert and Pauline Edwards. She married her husband of 49 years, Wayne Cates, in 1951. Left to cherish her memory are sister, Mary Jo Holmes, of Mt. Vernon, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Ann Edwards, of Mt. Pleasant, Barbara and Jim Alford, of Mt. Vernon, sister Edna Hunnicutt, of Mt. Vernon, sister and brother-in-law, sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Danny Moore, of Garland, and sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Sansom, of Garland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Cates, parents, Albert and Pauline Edwards, and daughter Betty Joyce Cates.

Visitation will be held, Wednesday, April 16, from 6-8 PM at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2PM at Bridges Chapel Cemetery. Memorial bequests may be made to Bridges Chapel United Methodist Church, or Heart to Heart Hospice.
