Lula Gillespie

Lula Pauline Hale Gillespie (Sug), age 76, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 in Mt. Pleasant, TX.

She was the daughter of Oscar (Bill) and Maxine Shippley Hale, and was born in Potterville, MO.

Sug was raised near Springfield, MO and Shenandoah IA, where she went to school in Farragat and Shenandoah, IA. Sug was united in marriage to William Gillespie (Bill) on July 15, 1962. Sug and Bill were blessed with two sons and one daughter, Rodney J., Robert J. and Kimberley K. Sug enjoyed country music and dancing. She also enjoyed and loved family, boating and shopping flea markets with hers sisters. Sug worked almost 20 years for Wal Mart in Corsicana, TX, Branson, MO and Mt. Pleasant, TX.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years William Gillespie of Mt. Pleasant; sons, Rodney and Robert Gillespie of Mt. Pleasant, TX; daughter, Kim Scott and son-in-law JR Scott of Waxahachie , TX; brother, Otis Hale of Essex, IA; sister, Donna Rowe and husband Russel of Shenandoah, IA; brother Terry R. Hale of Bloomfield, IA; brother-in-law Kirk Roth, sister-in-law, Pauline Clark and husband Frank of Owatonna, MN; Charles and Mary Gillespie of Flippin, AR; sister-in-law, Evenlyn and Joe Craine of Forsyth, IL; grandchildren, Britteny of Corsicana, TX; Heather of the Colony in TX; Derrick Scott of Waxahachie, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Maxine Hale, her sister Jane Roth, brother-in-law’s, Howard and Don Gillespie and sister-in-law Pranda Hale.

Cremation arrangements are being held under the direction of Curry Welborn funeral home.
