Jackie Black Crowley, 75, of Talco, TX, passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2024.
Jackie was born on January 26, 1949 to Charlene and Mack Black. She attended school in Talco and graduated from Rivercrest High School in 1967. She went on to attend East Texas State University for 2 years before starting her career. In 1981 she started work as a legal secretary at Russell, Russell, & Wootten, P.C. in Mt. Pleasant, TX until she retired in 2023. She also handled the operations of State Representative Sam Russell's district office during this time as well.
From an early age, Jackie loved sports. In her youth, she played basketball and was a cheerleader. She enjoyed playing softball and golf as well. Her love of sports was passed on to her children and grandchildren. She loved attending their games and cheering them on.
Jackie loved God and she loved her family. She was very close with her siblings and family weekends and holidays were filled with card games, laughter and food. She taught her children the meaning of hard work, loyalty, respect, and love. She became a caretaker for the family, caring for her mother as she aged and then her brother when he battled cancer. Her attitude and smile endured no matter the situation and she was always there when needed.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Faye Purdue and Maxine Harrell, brothers Butch Black and Danny Black.
She is survived by:
son Justin Kirkland, his wife Laura, grandchildren Jonathan, Collin, Logan.
daughter Jolee Staton and her husband James grandchildren Zachary, Jayden, Jace, Chelsea.
brother-in-law Frankie Harrell, sister-in-law Harrolyn Black, niece Carla McClanahan and her husband Mark, niece Cathy McMullen, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jackie on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant. 401 N Madison Ave, Mount Pleasant, TX, 75455
We invite all who knew her to come and celebrate our memories, experiences, and the impact Jackie had on our lives.
Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Talco, TX on March 2, 2024 at 11:00 am.
