Hassel Smith

Hassel Martin Smith, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant, TX passed away on February 2, 2020 at Pleasant Springs Health Care. Hassel was born on March 9, 1934 Judsonia, AR to his parents Frank Smith and Sarah White Smith.

Hassel married the love of his life Betty on May 25, 1967 and they were happily married for 52 years. He enjoyed working in his shop, hunting, fishing, as well as feeding the animals at the Langston Ranch. He was a member of the Circle C Cowboy Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Carolyn Smith; daughters, Kay Hitch, Karen Kelley and husband Chris, Dianne Newman, Tiffinay Cullen and husband Jeromy; sisters, Margaret Laing, Ann Wyant, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Curry-Welborn funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Circle C Cowboy Church at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Nevill’s Chapel cemetery.
