H. "Tift" Self

H.E. “Tift” Self, age 58, of Cookville, TX, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Memorial services will held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Bro. Dwaine Higgins and Bro. Tony Deornellis officiating. Family visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews; Joey Bynum, Eddie Priefert, Nathan Priefert, Travis Priefert, Cody Smith and Tell Smith.Tift was born on September 30, 1961 in Pittsburg, TX, to Buck and Beatrice Johnson Self, and worked as a mechanic for several years at TXU. He married Ella Sanford on April 2, 1986. They enjoyed trail riding with their mules and wagon and enjoying every minute with family and friends.Tift is survived by his wife, Ella Self, daughter Jennifer Veal, granddaughter Josie Veal, and grandson Noah Veal, his sisters; Amber Newman, Shayne Priefert and husband Bill, Mandy Smith and husband PeWee, sister-in-law, Kathy Jones, and brother-in-law Johnny Sanford and wife Gay. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Misty O’Neal, Cassidy Holland, Joey Bynum, Eddie Priefert, Nathan Priefert, Travis Priefert, Cody Smith and Tell Smith.He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Beatrice Self, and his brother- in-law J.W.Newman.
