It is with peaceful sadness that the family of Genaro Gomes de Souza, Jr., 87, of Pernambuco, Brazil, who resided in Bedford, Texas, announce his passing on December 1, 2020 in the home of his daughter in Allen, Texas, surrounded by some of his children.

É com grande pesar que a família de Genaro Gomes de Souza, Jr., 87 anos, pernambucano, residente em Bedford, Texas, anuncia seu falecimento dia 1 de dezembro de 2020 na residência de sua filha em Allen, Texas, junto aos filhos.

Genaro will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his ten children - Jeanne [& Alan] Alford of Cabot, Arkansas, Marcos [& Emília] Souza of São José dos Campos, Brazil, Zelia [& Paul] McGaha of Tyler, Texas, Carlos [& Michèle] Souza of Eus, France, Ricardo [& Marian] Souza of Cabot, Arkansas, Alexandre [& Lisa] Souza, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mahatma [& Daniel] Thompson of Allen, Texas, Rachel [& Jay] Dawson of Belton, Texas, Ana Paula [& Shawn] Mumy of Ottawa, Kansas, and Daniel [& Jessica] Souza of Mt. Genaro was a dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus. He was passionate about God’s Word, prayer and worship, and he loved singing hymns. He adored his family and was very proud of them. He loved being surrounded by his large family, especially playing “canastra” with his children. His heart of generosity toward others was a distinguishing mark in his life.

Genaro era um esposo dedicado, pai, avô e bisavô amoroso, e servo fiel do Senhor Jesus. A paixão dele era a palavra de Deus, oração e louvor, e gostava muito de cantar hinos. Ele adorava a família e tinha muito orgulho de todos. Ele desfrutava em estar com sua grande família, principalmente jogando canastra com seus filhos. Uma marca importante de sua vida foi sua generosidade.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that remembrances be made in the form of charitable donations to Spero Stuttering, a nonprofit organization recently founded by two of Genaro's children.
