Funeral service for Gary M. Bragg, age 84, of Mount Pleasant, Texas will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Texas with Jim Parker and Bo Rester officiating. Interment will follow at Nevill’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Denny Bragg, Brian Bragg, Vernon Donaldson, Jacob Thomason, Chris Bragg, Jimmy Fox, B.A. Morgan, and Bobby Jacks serving as pallbearers. Mr. Bragg passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Gary Mac Bragg was born on July 6, 1940, in Mount Pleasant, Texas to William Denson Bragg and Essie (Combs) Bragg. Gary joined the National Guard and spent 7 years in the 49th Armored Division as a photographer. He Married Linda Hall on November 24, 1960 in Hughes Springs TX. He was the business owner of Max Western Store from 1975-1982. Gary was very talented in art, he created and sold personalized knives for many famous people including Dallas Cowboys players, Ann Richards, George W. Bush, as well as Walter Payton whom bought the Chicago Bears offensive line all customized pocket knives for the 1985 Super Bowl. He also sold his John Wayne portrait and it hung for many years in the John Wayne Airport in California. He spent many years supporting students in White’s Ferry Road School of Preaching. He was a faithful member of the North Ridge Church of Christ.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Linda Bragg, his children; Denny Bragg (Dr. Tonya Taylor), Sherry Donaldson (Vernon), and Brian Bragg: his grandchildren; Amber Jacks (Bobby), Molly Thomason (Jacob), and Bailey Wood (Anthony), his great-grandchildren; Emma Jacks, and Ellie, Asher and Jude Thomason. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother and father, Essie (Combs) Bragg and William Denson Bragg, his brothers; J.D. Bragg (Winnie), Efton Bragg (Zelma), and Dan Bragg (Betty), his sister, Kate (Bragg) Morgan (B.A.), his grandson, Justin Lee Bragg, his daughters-in-law; Margie Bragg and Lynn (Bramlett) Bragg.
