Eric Sims

Eric Albert Sims, age 63, passed away in Tyler, Texas, on June 16, 2022. He was born in Graham, Texas, on October 13, 1958, to Floyd and Patsy Sims. Eric graduated high school from Eastern Hills high school, attended the Tarrant County Junior College, and was a member of the R.O.T.C. He was proud to have been chosen to deliver much needed supplies to Chicago and New York City after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. He was an avid reader, skilled marksman, experienced tailor, excellent cook, and a history buff. Eric had over twenty years’ experience as a professional truck driver and was employed by Pilgrim’s Pride in the industrial maintenance department at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Ann; son, Matthew; uncle, Jerry Albert; and aunt, Margaret Alberts Giddens. He is also survived by his first cousins, Leann Jenkins and husband, Bradley, Laura Frederickson and husband, Ronald, and Billy D. Giddens and wife, Lisa.

He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Sims; his mother, Patsy Sims; his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Ivadell Alberts; his paternal grandparents; and three first cousins, Renee, Deborah, and Karen.

The family will hold a private memorial service for Eric on October 13, 2022.
