It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, David Bentley Reeve Jr., affectionately known as Junebug or Junior, who was taken from us too soon on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the tender age of 16.
David Reeve died from injuries he received after he was struck by a vehicle while rollerblading. He was a junior at Mt. Vernon High School and described as a valuable member of the Mt. Vernon High School Audio Visual team who took great pride in helping to produce the Friday night broadcast for the Tiger football team.
He brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with his kind heart, radiant smile and boundless curiosity. He will be sadly missed by everyone.
David was an adventurous spirit who found joy in rollerblading, swimming, and playing video games. His love for water made any place with a pool, beach or lake his favorite spot. He had a particular fondness for barbecue and pizza, often sharing meals with friends and family. Music was also a significant part of his life; he enjoyed listening to bands like Black Light District, and the Weathers which provided the soundtrack to his vibrant days. He worked at Applebee’s in Mt. Pleasant and shared his smile with everyone who walked in the door. A devoted fan of “My Hero Academia,” David found entertainment and inspiration in the show's themes. He loved to capture the excitement of games at Mt. Vernon High School, often documenting the moments that brought him happiness. His favorite activities included fishing, anime and reading comics, and any activity that allowed him to embrace the outdoors and stay active. His favorite video games including Skylanders, ROBLOX and Minecraft. David is remembered for his unique sense of style, often seen wearing his black light district hoody and black jeans with bulky headphones on his ears or wearing his Versace jacket that he loved and care for so much.
He is survived by his loving family, including his mother, Miykael Reeve; father, David Reeve; and sister, Mary Reeve. His Nanna, Betty Latimer and his aunt, Miriam Latimer and his cousins, Takoda and Allyssa Latimer. His uncle Chip Reeve and his aunt, Joyce Reeve, Andrew, Matthew and Sarah Reeve, his aunts; Doreen Watson, Evearita Putman, Andrea Cole, Theresa Reeve, Jane Elliott and Margie McCaig and girlfriend, Aubriella. His family in Florida included; Debra Brown, Brenda Jones, Sabrina Barber, Doris Lowery, Rosa Lowery McDavid, Gary Lowery, Bernadine Lowery, and host of cousin, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather’s Lawrence Reeve and Richard Latimer, his grandmother, Joyce Reeve, his uncles; Aaron and Noah Latimer, Richard Reeve, Michael Elliott, Steve Latimer and his aunts; Ruby Smith Rowe, Linda Faye Jaminson, Shelly Latimer Buehrer and cousin, Darneshia Newkirk.
David Bentley Reeve will be dearly missed by all who knew him, cherished for his infectious spirit, love for life, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Arrangements are under the direction of Curry Welborn Funeral Home, 2256 N. Edwards Ave, Mt Pleasant, Texas, 75455.
His Requiem Mass will be held on November 11, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic church located at 1403 E. 1st St, Mount Pleasant, Texas with a rosary at 5:30 pm and Mass at 6:00 pm. His interment will be at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis, Texas on Tuesday at 1:00 pm.
