Daphne Lewis

Funeral service for Daphne Lewis, age 59, of Mount Vernon will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Edwards Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.  Mrs. Lewis passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at UT Health, Pittsburg, TX.

Daphne was born on September 2, 1962 to Emmitt and Kathleen (Pierce) Gotcher.  She married Jonas Short Sr. in 1980 in Harris County, of which five children were born to this union, he preceded her in death in 1997, she then married David Lewis in 2013 in Titus County and he preceded her in death in 2015.  Daphne was a computer programmer by trade.  She loved the lord and shared her Christian faith with her children.  She enjoyed antiquing, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.  She had an especially warm spot in her heart for her dog, Gabby.

She is survived by her children, Amanda Wilborn (Zak Isom) of Pittsburg, Jonas Wade Short Jr (Hillary) of Lindale, Samantha Short of Mount Vernon, Donald Short (Lisa) of Azel; ten grandchildren; brother,Emmitt Gotcher; sisters, Lucy Taylor, Lorica Smithey, Julie Gotcher-Branson.

Daphne was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Cheree Short; sister, Eddie Maines.
