Bobby C. Whelchel, born to Kittie and Grady Whelchel of Naples, Texas, passed away May 3, 2014 after a lengthy illness at ETMC in Tyler, Texas. He was born April 17, 1949 in Naples, Texas. He resided in Pasadena, Maryland for 22 years before returning to Naples in 2008.
Bobby was an army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and deeply cherished his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Connie Drenning Whelchel, a son Kenneth Whelchel, both of Naples, and one grandson, Dylan Whelchel, of Pasadena, Maryland. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Sharon Whelchel, of Marietta, Texas; a sister, Quida Michaels, of Lone Star, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Mike Gowombeck, of Pasadena, Maryland; sister-in-law Charlotte Poole of Glen Burnie, Maryland; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Linda Drenning of Smithton, Pennsylvania, and a host of neices, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby A. Whelchel, who passed away in 2007, and his parents, Kittie and Grady; two brothers, Weldon and Gene Whelchel; 3 sisters, Modene Robbins, Barbara Fosters, and Annie Louise; three brother-in-laws, Roger Drenning, Bill Michaels, and Mike Poole.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
