On Sunday morning, October 20, 2019, Billy F. Walker joined the heavenly choir singing praises to his Lord and Savior. He passed away in Longview Regional Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. Billy was born August 28, 1945 in Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas to Buster S. and Mary Hill Walker.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany and Viet Nam. He came back to the states where he fell in love with his wife to be, Carolyn Wise. They were married after a brief courtship and were happily married for 50 years in August of this year. Billy worked almost 30 years as a Communications Technician for the phone company. In those 30 years he missed only one complete day of work. Since retiring from Verizon, he and his wife have enjoyed traveling and seeing God’s beautiful creations. Even before retiring, he loved to take his grandsons on trips across the country. He was a faithful member of South Jefferson Baptist Church, where he had served as an usher, and a member of the security team.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, two children: David Walker of Wylie, Texas and Lisa C. Anderson, of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He had four grandsons, of whom he was very proud to be called, PaPa. Grandsons are: Korbin and Skyler Walker of Omaha, Texas, and Dylan and Joshua Anderson of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He is also survived by his mother, Mary H. Walker of the Monticello Community; a brother, Bobby Walker and his wife Cynthia, also of the Monticello Community; a sister, Cher Underwood and her husband, Billy Joe of Mt.
