Billy Joe Powell, age 52, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, at his home in Cookville, Texas. He was born to Jackie Wayne Powell and Bonnye Gean Gauntt on February 8, 1971, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Powell; children, Jonathan Powell, Brittany Powell, Kerrie Wright, Lori Jo Ragsdale and husband Cable, Samantha Newman and husband Toby Craig, Jacky Newman and wife Lindsey, and Jeffery Newman; mother, Bonnye Gean Gauntt; father, Jackie Wayne Powell and stepmother Lera Powell; grandchildren, Jayden Craig, Karter Craig, Emma Ruiz, Eli Ruiz, Adalyn Ragsdale, Landon Perdue, Grayson Perdue, Lane Newman, Madisyn Newman, Weston Newman, Paisley Newman, Jodie Burnett, and Alexander Powell; sisters, Tammy Jones and Patricia Jones; brothers, James Powell and Jacob Powell; and aunt, Sue Best and husband John.

He is preceded in death by his sons, Christopher Powell and Richard Powell; maternal grandparents, Bill and Ardelia Gauntt; and his paternal grandparents, Jack Edward and Blanche Evelyn Powell.
