Bettie June Freeman, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on May 16, 2020. Bettie was born on June 23, 1928 in Titus County to Raymond and Lucille Cameron.
Bettie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She moved to Dallas iin 1946 and began a 40 year career with Southwestern Bell. Bettie and her second husband J.E. Freeman returned to Mt. Pleasant to build their home in 1991. They were members of First Baptist Church. Bettie loved to travel, garden and spend time with her family.
Bettie is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, J.E. Freeman who she married in 1992, and her first husband Garland McElroy to whom she was married for 39 years. Also preceding her in death were her son, Garland McElroy, grandson, Daniel, sister, Patsy and her brother Jimmy.
She leaves to treasure her memory, her daughter and son-in-law Kay and Kenny, her grandchildren Sara, David and his wife Kristin and their son Adriane, her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Freda Cameron, sister-in-law, Norma Cameron, and loving daughter-in-law, Drethia Parsons and her husband Mike, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her special great grandchildren, Adriane, Diego Jr. and Sherri, Jayden, Ryleigh and Chris, who along with their parents Cassie and Diego Martinez brought her much joy and love.
Also a heartfelt thanks to Terry Moyer, a longtime family friend from Dallas that moved to Mt. Pleasant to spend time with Kay and helped care for Bettie in so many ways, that the family will always be so very thankful for.
Services will begin at 11:00 AM at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
